Who Can You Build Up Today?

If you follow me on Linkedin, you will probably have seen the journey from me being shortlisted as a finalist for a Business Book Award, to then attending the Gala Awards Dinner on May 16th. I definitely feel a bit disappointed to have walked away without an award. Yet I have also walked away with a great deal of pride, gratitude and inspiration.

The pride came from being shortlisted in the first place – a huge achievement in my mind for my first attempt at writing.

I also felt pride in the incredible group of women I invited to join me for the evening. Nine clients, colleagues and friends who have supported me on my book and business journey.

The gratitude was for all of those things as well.

And the inspiration?

I feel spurred on to make the most of the book: exploring a TED Talk and further marketing of keynote speeches and workshops. And I was reminded by the wonderful Grace Marshall that I did something good with our table of great women.

Something that I’m inspired to do more of and encourage you to do the same.

I built them up.

I reminded them what they’re brilliant at.

I encouraged them to connect with new people and build foundations for new, useful contacts.

Better Than Confidence, and being concerned with ourselves and how we come across, is building up others. Considering how we want to make others feel, and having a lasting impact on them by changing our behaviour. It’s not about us, it’s about them.

Who could you build up today?

How might that focus on helping others change your mindset? How might you benefit from this? Why not give it a go and let me know how you get on?!
