Be Where Your Feet Are

Wow, here we are, hurtling towards the end of another year.

Will you take some time to look back?

Or are you more interested in looking forward?

Or could we spend more time in the moment?

A phrase that has resonated super strongly in our team this year has been, “be where your feet are.” A colleague’s sister had heard it on a wellbeing day at her work, and this was a link to the concept of mindfulness. Being present, being in the moment.

It has been super powerful for me, as I would actually wiggle my toes whenever I heard the phrase or remembered its wisdom. That physical grounding in the moment is incredibly useful for getting out of worries about the future or past. I’m here. Right now. What is in front of me. How can I add value to or appreciate or simply be in this moment?

As you approach what I hope will be something of a break from work, yet we know that for many people the holidays can be the toughest time of the year, I hope you can take a moment to be where your feet are.

To fear not about the future.

To worry not about the past.

To be and soak up and enjoy.

May you take that phrase into 2024 and may it be as powerful for you as it has been for me. My prayers and best wishes to you over Christmas and the holidays,

Helen.
