I have at times felt a little uncomfortable with the “just do it” mantra.
Because sometimes that thing that we want or feel we need to do, can feel a bit too big and scary.
This week I have been reflecting on the fact that I’ve been talking with a few people about a dream I have. Talking, not acting.
A dream to own and run a vineyard. I know nothing about how to do that, the challenges involved or where I would even start, so feeling the need to crack on and do something, the “just do it” message feels too huge. Where would I even start?
And so I started small. In two hours, I contacted three people who I thought might know someone, who might know someone, who could help me explore the idea further. I did a little research and booked onto a level one wine tasting course.
Two hours of my time and I’ve already had replies from some of those people with some super helpful connections. And with the course booked, I know I am making progress.
Rather than stay small, scared, telling myself it’s too huge, I have to acknowledge the fact that I don’t know. I don’t know how huge it is because I’ve not even taken those first steps to find out. And I know I’m not alone in this.
So, what do you want to be doing? What are you telling yourself is too big, too scary?
And what if you made a tiny start? Spoke to someone who might know someone? Did some research? It’s worth a start, right?
Let me know how you get on, I love hearing your stories!
All the best,
Helen.
